PTA
Who are we? We’re you!
Every parent and carer is automatically part of the Friends of Highfield Shortlands (FHS). A registered charity (reg.# 1032975), we are a friendly group sharing a common goal: To enhance the educational experience of each and every child at Highfield Infants’ and Junior Schools.
What do we do? FHS runs more than 30 events and activities each year across both schools ranging from family events such as discos and fairs to enrichment activities for all students such as crafts and science shows.
We also help with school improvement projects including purchasing new playground equipment and markings, providing materials used both in and out of the classroom and contributing to the cost of the distinctive wood carvings gracing the schools' entrances.
Why do we need your help? These days, all schools are asked to do more with less and our help is needed more than ever to fill the gaps. We understand that between work and family, life is busy and not everyone has time or money to spare. But even donating an hour or two of your time can make a massive difference. Besides, it’s a fantastic way of making new friends and joining a thriving school community.
What can you do? There are many ways that you can get involved in the PTA, from helping out directly in school or at one of our events, to using your creative, practical or professional skills and contacts to support behind the scenes. We’d love to hear from you! Speak to one of us in the playground or email: fhispta@gmail.com.
